[GIP-232] Business Development Initiative & Referral Program
AI summary
This proposal introduces a business development initiative and a referral program for Gearbox, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol. It aims to attract more liquidity to Gearbox's lending pools by incentivizing individuals to bring in new users. The program outlines specific referral fees based on the type of asset in the pool (stablecoins vs. volatile assets) and whether the pool is managed internally or by external curators. Referrers will earn a percentage of the attracted liquidity, paid quarterly, with thresholds for minimum Total Value Locked (TVL) that must be met.
If passed, Gearbox will allocate treasury funds to pay referrers, potentially increasing the protocol's Total Value Locked (TVL) and revenue. Referrers who successfully attract significant liquidity will benefit financially, while the DAO will incur costs for these incentives. The initial cost is difficult to determine as it depends on the success of the program, but it could be substantial if many referrers hit high TVL targets.

Motivation for Referral Bonuses: Gearbox pools genera…
